Dagan McDowell is a business correspondent for FOX News Channel (FNC).
She joined the network in June 2003.
McDowell appears regularly on "Your World with Neil Cavuto" and "Cashin’ In."
And she now is a regular on the new Fox Business Channel
Before that, McDowell served as a FNC business news contributor and where she has been a regular on "Cashin’ In" since its debut in May 2001. Prior to joining FNC, McDowell wrote a personal-finance column for TheStreet.com called “Dear Dagan.” In addition, she has also worked for Smart Money magazine and SmartMoney.com. McDowell began her career as a financial journalist at the Institutional Investor's Newsletter Division. A native of Virginia, McDowell graduated from Wake Forest University with a degree in Art History. Dagan is married to Jona Max Ferris, founder of MAXfunds.com and fellow Cashin' In panelist. And she used to date Rush Limbaugh.
Dagan McDowell was doing commentary on a Saturday morning "Cost of Freedom" show. She complained that the suggested boycott of Citgo would hurt small station owners. In the next breath, she advocated that the way to hurt Chavez was to stop buying Venezuelan oil. (She repeated this avocation again during her commentary.)
Southern View Magazine did a long piece on Dagan including this:
How has your life changed since you joined Fox News, and now that you appear
regularly on Your World with Neil Cavuto and Cashin’ In?
Obviously your visibility has increased dramatically.
Well I can no longer work in jeans with my hair pulled back in a ponytail. And how can I say this? There’s a lot of physical maintanence that’s required. Frequent grooming. Outside of work, no one recognizes me without my makeup on. Some say I look a lot younger, which I assume is a compliment.
On a serious note, the job also comes with a great deal of responsibility. You’re delivering information to people that can affect their jobs, their livelihoods, their retirements. I remind myself of that ever day.
DAGAN McDOWELL
In one word: Sassy!
Think: Delta Burke-esque southern straight-shooter, minus the extra chins.
Favorite food: Grits and collard greens, we’re guessing.
Prospects: “If you’re getting more sex,” she asked a guest sexpert while Connell McShane
sat close by, “do you think that’ll make you a better employee because
you’re more relaxed at work and easier to deal with?”
